I think I've mentioned it before that I'm not super into eyeliners. I've used the same brand and product since I first learnt how to apply it. I've recently been feeling like I want to branch out and try new things. I went out with the intention of buying a gel liner, to try it out and see if it is something I could potentially see myself using a lot more. We've all seen videos where girls apply seamlessly flawless gel liner; well I want that!
I picked up this Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner out of my local Superdrug, also picking up a Maybelline Great Lash Mascara because 'branching out' and all that. It was really the first one I noticed, and I wasn't all that bothered about the brand to be honest.
My first thought was that the pot is so cute. The base has a frosted glass effect with Maybelline written in a metallic silver finish, while the screw on lid has the same silver colour. It reminds me of like an ink pot? I can see it have a quill dipped in on the set of Harry Potter!
I did not use the brush that came with it to apply the product. I was gifted a very thin liner brush that bends at a slight angle for my birthday; a better reason for me to buy this liner other than just wanting to try it out). However, I did use the brush to produce the swatches and it looks like the brush is capable of both thick and thin lines.
Th shade I picked up was 07 Black Chrome, which is like your typical black gel liner but with tiny little silver shimmers in it. The formula is very thick but smooth at the same time. It was very easy to drag across my top lash line, I only needed to use a small amount of product.
I am very impressed with this gel liner and it did not break the bank like I expected it to. It was £7.99 which is cheap considering how good the product is.
How do you feel about gel liners - love them or hate them?
