I like liquid lipsticks. The idea of applying it once and not having to really ever hour is my kind of idea. I'm totally lazy like that. I don't have to worry that it's becoming too faded or patchy, and at most I will only have to reapply after a heavy meal. When I see the brand 'Hourglass' I think high-end, luxury products; it's sone of the brand that I fell everyone needs to try once. I picked up an Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick and an Ambient Lighting Powder as my first 'dip. into the brand.
The packaging of the liquid lipstick is a funny rounded off rectangular shape; thicker in the middle and thinner at the ends. It's quite sleek and streamlined, which is perfect for popping into a hand bag. There is a little window on the front of the tube so that it is easy to distinguish the colour. The rest of the tube is a warm bronze colour with a metallic effect to it. Edition is a nice warm pink colour that leans towards being slightly more coral. There are lots of tiny little golden shimmers in the liquid lipstick which I quite like; it creates an interesting look since the final finish is matte.
The applicator for this is one of my favourites; it's a double sided thin doe-foot. This makes it easy for very precise and sharp application. The formula is quite thick when compared to other liquid lipsticks I tried, such as my Kat von D and Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lippies. I feel that it tends to dry quicker too, so you have to work quickly with it so that an even application can be achieved. If I press my lips together too hard when I'm wearing it then I can feel a little bit of tackiness, but it drys down to a nice level. It doesn't become so dry and hard that it's uncomfortable to wear, or starts to flake off.
I genuinely love this liquid lipstick; it's so comfortable and smooth on my lips. It lasts so well that to remove it I sometimes have to use some cleaning balm to make it easier to shift. It ranks tied first place with my Kat von D in terms of how much I love it. I think I will end up with another one soon, possibly Canvas? The Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick can be bought for £23 at SpaceNK, not sure where else but that is where I bought mine. I'm about £25 away for my £5 SpaceNK N.dulge incentive which is another push in that direction.
To buy, or not to buy? That is my question! Let me know what you think
