Barry M 'Fall in Love' Eyeshadow Palette

When I first started seeing the Barry M Fall in Love Palette all over Instagram, the first thing I noticed was that it has similar red and orange shades to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette. To be honest, I didn't get subculture because of the issues with the palette's formula and because I wasn't really interested in half of the shades. It was only the warm yellows and oranges that stood out to me. I picked this out not because I though it would be a 'dupe' for some of the Subculture Palette's shadows, but just because I wanted to experience such bright shades without breaking the bank.

I don't particularly mind the cardboard packaging on the palette, I know some people think that it is a downside to the Barry M palettes. On one hand, I feel that cardboard can be quite flimsy and prone to looking beat up very easily. However, the cardboard makes the palette very lightweight and travel friendly.

The shadows are a bit powdery and dry, which I find a commonality in all the Barry M palettes that I have tried. A lot of dust tends to be kicked up when I swirl a brush in the pan. However, I do not find myself having to clean up a lot of fall out from under my eyes. The pigmentation of the shadows are so-so. The three lightest shades are practically invisible on my pale skin, which means I can really only use them for setting my eye primer. The group of six shadows at the right hand side of the palette can quite pigmented on their own without even using a primer.

The warm group of shadows in the centre of the palette are my biggest draw to this palette. I love that this palette gives me both autumnal and summer vibes. The vibrant orange, deep red and mustard yellow give me immediate sunset feels. I think that this palette inspired me to push outside my comfort zone with colour combinations.

I think that I may not get much use of this palette until it starts to warm up more here in Scotland. I can see his becoming a staple in the height of Summer and Autumn. I think this palette is well worth it if you are just starting to experiment with brighter shades and don't want to break the bank.

Have you tried this palette yet, and if so, what did you think?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
