I've been feeling like I'm stuck in a nail polish stump recently. I've been going back and forth between my two favourite Barry M Nail Paints for the past month, Chilli and Almond, and generally being feeling uninspired. I was contemplating buying some new additions to my collection, when I decided to clean out what I already own. It was during this clear out that I discovered this NARS Nail Polish that I had bought but only tried a few times.
This is the NARS Nail Polish in the shade Dark Room. It was released as part of the 3:1 Phillip Lim collection, I think back in 2014, but it is still available for sale on the NARS website. I personally got this back about eight months ago, not long before I left for America. The collection, from what I could find out, consisted of lots of deep, dark colours. At the same time as purchasing this, I also picked up the shade Gold Viper.
The shade is a very deep, rich teal shade that is just so iconic in winter. I normally find it hard to pull off extremely dark colours such as this, but it was calling to me. Over the top I layered this years Barry M limited edition Christmas Nail Paint in Icicle to add a little bit more glitz and glam. With the shade being so dark and creamy, any imperfections in application would be unnoticeable on the nail, but don't get paint accidentally on your skin. It will be a pain to remove! It similarly stains the skin as it does to the nails. To protect my nails I made sure to put down a really good base coat.
The brush on the NARS Nail polishes have to be my all time favourites. The bristles are so short, fat and flat that it makes application just so smooth. Two swipes is just all I need to cover one nail, and on my pinkie fingers I only need the single swipe. I love it! I'd say it has about average staying power, only being chip-free for about three days. In those three days, I as active with my hands as I usually am. I'm a very heavy handed person which takes quite a toll on my nails.
