My Top 5 Winter Lipsticks

Let me start by stating: I love Winter! The chunky knits, tartan blanket scarves, and oodles of hot chocolate become my new norm. Christmas preparations come into full swing and everyone becomes super festive.

When I think of what type of lipstick I typically gravitate towards during Winter, I see deep dark reds, rich berry tones, and dark nudes. There are five lipsticks in particular that I have found myself reaching for more during the current and past Winters. And they're all tried and tested, nothing brand new or just discovered.

5. Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Rosewood
I'd describe Rosewood as being a very pinky - mauve coloured lipstick. It is really the closest I get to a nude once Autumn and Winter hit.

4. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Glastonbery
The Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks are one of my favourite matt.e formulas; matte but very creamy. Glastonberry is a deeper, muted purple berry shade.

3. MAC Satin Lipstick in Rebel
Rebel is the original cult favourite berry coloured lipstick. The thing that makes this stand out when compared to some of my other berry shades, it that Rebel is much lighter and pink coloured.

2. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl
Bond Girl is one of my all time favourite Winter Lipsticks, hence why I've ranked it so high. The colour is more of a muted brick red with the tiniest hint of pink to it.

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 107
This is the ultimate Winter lipstick! The cult following surrounding this single lipstick is immense. I love it so much that I almost need a new one. 107 is a deep berry colour, containing the perfect balance of pink, red and purple.

And I had to throw in a bonus honorary mention, the  Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry! Black Cherry looks exactly how it sounds; a darkened, deep cherry red.

I must apologise for the small hiatus that has been going on for the past month. I had lots of plans for the blog in the run up to December. Unfortunately, real life has got in the way. Also, I'm finding it hard to take pictures 90% of the time that I'm not working. It's either too late and dark, or the weather is not cooperating.

But back to topic: What is your ultimate Winter go to lipstick?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
