High-end American Beauty Haul

So as you a probably all aware, I have recently returned from the states. I'd like to again apologise for the lack of posts while I was away, blogger messed up. I have taken them all off schedule now, and will instead publish them with my current line up.

But your not here for the technicalities, your here for the makeup! Anytime a person who beauty blogs goes away to America, there is usually a haul shown later. I am no exception! I love shopping in America, their shops are so much better then what I find on the highstreet where I live; I usually travel to Glasgow for decent shopping once or twice a year. Some of my frequented shops are: Charlotte Russe, JC Penny, Torrid, Sephora and Forever 21.

Today I have an American beauty haul! Most of the products are for Sephora, aka the shop I went to three times and spent half my holiday in, and the Cosmetic Company Outlet. The Cosmetic Company Outlet is always a very interesting store owned by the Estee Lauder umbrella company, and sells discounted makeup from brands within the company. Brands like MAC, Tom Ford, Estee Lauder, Bumble and Bumble, Clinique and Bobbi Brown. If you miss a MAC collection, visiting a Cosmetic Company Outlet is your best second chance at it.

Kat von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette
Whim purchase number one!! I was actually supposed to buy the Urban Decay Naked Palette which was on the opposite aisle facing the Kat von D display. I was stuck and thought that I could easily get the Naked palette at another time, but Kat von D is so much harder to get in Scotland.

Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita 2
I remember in the far back recesses of my mind that there was a big kick up about the Kat von D Lolita, possibly about the shade? I did know that they were very popular so I went with every intention of buying one, it just so happened that Lolita 2 was the most suited shade of me.

Too Faced Hangover X Primer
I have been after this for a long time, but other products always took priority. The first Sephora I went to at the Florida Mall was sold out so I trekked over to the new one at Disney Springs. It's free of silicone, unlike my fav Maybelline Baby Skin, and is more of a hydration primer than a pore filler.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Cool Girl
Whim purchase number 2! No real reason for picking this up other than it looks nice, and I don't think it's available over here yet? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone
Another product that I went with the intention of buying. I nearly picked up the Champagne Pop version, due to the numerous stands displaying the full collection that launched when I was there, but it was too golden for me. I also tried Pearl but I didn't like the look of it; Moonstone was that perfect middle ground.

Tom Ford Lip Color in Negligèe
I blame Tati aka Glam Life Guru. She always raves about Tom Ford products, and since I watch her videos religiously, I have developed a deep need for some Tom Ford in my life. This was from the Cosmetic Company Outlet and was the only full-sized Tome Ford lipstick. I fell in love at first sight!

MAC Toledo Ombere Blush in Azeala Blossom
The Mac Toledo Collection launched in the autumn/winter of 2014, the same time as I first stared up my blog. I know I wanted this back when it was out, I remember standing in the House of Fraser MAC and swatching it. But in the end I never got it. This was my second chance and I grasped it with both hands.

Jo Malone French Lime Blossom Cologne
This is a bit of a cheat; it wasn't actually bought in America, but instead in Gatwick Duty Free. However, I love the Jo Malone fragrances so much that it felt like a sin to leave it out. French Lime Blossom is a very crisp, fresh, clean smell which is perfect for summer. It also pairs beautifully with a spritz of my Mimosa & Cardamom one.

That's it, I'm done! I've only realised after writing this that these are all more high-end products, maybe I'll do a drugstore haul tomorrow?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
