BareMinerals 'In the Spotlight'

The bareMinerals 'In the Spotlight' was one of those gifts that you really wanted to buy back at Christmas but something else caught your eye. Then your all sad because it was limited edition and you can't buy it anymore. I was very fortunate to find this in my local Tk Maxx; unlike some others I got that second chance to buy this even after it became no longer available. The original retail price was £49.00, but it was reduced down t0 £29.99!

'In the Spotlight' was a collection of seven bareMinerals products with an extra gift of a black glitter makeup bag. It came in the signature Christmas limited edition black, white, red and gold packaging. In the spotlight is:

  • Center Stage Eye Colour
  • Flawless Diamond Eye Colour
  • Luminary Blush
  • Flawless Definition Mascara
  • Mini Marvelous Moxie Lipstick
  • Tapered Shadow and Crease Brush
  • Shimmer Glaze Lip Topcoat
  • Cosmetic Bag
It's safe to say that I will never, ever have to buy myself a makeup bag. There is always one in a gift set. A large percentage of the bags I own are glitter bags. This one is marginally bigger than the rest, and has a little gold button near the top engraved with bareMinerals circling a star.

The tapered shadow & crease brush is certainly a useful tool. It makes travelling sooo much easier because you don't have to carry multiple brushes. The are also super soft and fluffy!

The Luminary Blush in 'Sunwashed Berry' looks as if it could pack a bit too much punch when ou first look at it, but it is actually not that terrifying on. The colour is a muted, dusty berry shade which is a lot more subtle than I thought it would be. A tiny bit of this gave my cheeks the loveliest colour which made them look a bit brighter and more 'healthy'.

The Center Stage Eye Colour in 'Shimmering Gilded Pecan' is the perfect all-over eye colour, or mid-creas colour for anyone. It's a shimmery mid-tonal brown with hints of gold through it. The pigmentation is superb, a little bit of the really goes a long way.

The Flawless Diamond Eye Colour in 'Peach Champagne' is exactly what it says. It is a pinky champagne colour filled to the brim with shimmer and sparkle. I would probably use this in the center of my lid to catch the light, or if it was a special occasion as an all over the lid shimmer.

The Flawless Definition Mascara in 'Black' was to me a so-so product. I, personally, prefer my mascara wands to be make with bristles and to be a bit fuller than the one in this tube, but there is no fault in the formula. It's ultra-black, and gave my lashes some amazing definition.

The Shimmer Glaze topcoat in 'Diamond Glaze' was a very interesting product to me. I had never seen such a product before; one that was designed to be solely a coat for after lipstick. It is the single most prettiest, sparkly lip product that I have ever seen. It's got a golden shimmer to it with lots and lots of tiny glitter particles in it.

The Mini Marvelous Moxie comes in the shade of 'Be a Star'. It is describe as a 'rosebud mauve' which I completely agree with! It is very much a 'my lips but better' shade. I could see myself going out and purchasing the full sized version when it runs out.

No review of a collection of makeup is complete without a photo using the same products; along with the newness that is my chopped hair!

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
