One of the things I enjoy so much about blogging is trying new things. It helps me to see different products and find new favourites that I might otherwise overlook. Primer are one area of my collection that I feel has been severely unattended to in my collection; I have been quite comfortable with my favourites that I have stopped considering any others.
I have only got silicone based primers in my makeup collection, such as Benefit Porefessional and bareMinerals Prime Time. I find that those types of primers are what work best of my skin as it have lots of enlarged pores. They give my skin a smoother finish, as well as helping my makeup to last a whole lot longer. I could say that silicone primers are my favourites, but how could I judge if they were the only ones I tried? This led me to purchasing the Illamasqua Satin Primer during my recent order on their website.
The first noticeable difference was that this primer is a lot thinner compared to my silicon primers. A light squeeze of the bottle is sufficient for the product to flood out. I found that a little of this primer went a long way due to the different consistency. The next difference was that this primer was white, which wasn't a surprise as the bottle showed the shade thought the plastic. I was very curious to see if the white tone would effect the overall end result.
After testing the product a few times I was pleased to find out that the primer made my skin look 'dewy' without looking like I had smothered it in oil. I have combination type skin which means that while my cheeks are prone to dry patches, my t-zone is oily and very likely to spot. The primer merely added a sheen to my skin without it looking too 'wet', if that makes sense.
Do you prefer for your base to have a dewy or a matte finish to it?
