Better Late Than Never! MAC Irresistibly Charming Lip Gloss Kit


Holiday gift sets are exploding onto the scene everywhere! You might think 'Hey! It's not even Halloween yet!" to which I would reply that it is never to early to think of Christmas. Right now Instagram is rife with sneak peaks and new releases, the most exciting of which is the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection. You bet that I'm already squirrelling away most of my money in anticipation. But, looking forward to the new collection has made me reminiscent of last years holiday collection and the unpublished post I wrote. I thought I'd publish this anyway as a way for people, who might have never bought any products from a MAC Holiday Collection before, to see what they could expect.


The MAC Irresistibly Charming Lip Gloss Kit in Nude was my product of choice from last year's MAC Irresistibly Charming Holiday Collection. Prior to this I had no MAC lipgloss experience, nothing, nada. That was actually the reason behind my purchase; four lip glosses to try and at a reduced price compare to if I wanted to buy them all separate. The kit consists of three Cremesheen Glasses and one Dazzleglass. All of the glosses are very wearable pinky-nude colours. As these were limited edition, they had packaging that differed from the norm. The lip glosses came in a cute little reusable black box, with the motif of the collection, three metallic bands of dark blue, purple and teal, wrapped around the front. The tubes are very chunky which makes them easier to store in my small acrylic drawers.



The first in the kit is Dress the Part, which is a Cremesheen Glass. It is a very milky, creamy pale baby pink colour. The pigmentation is not very strong, so instead of imparting lots of colour, it just brightens up the lips a bit.



The next in the kit is Deelight, another Cremesheen Glass. It is a more mid-tonal rosy pink colour. I find that this is my perfect 'my-lips-but-better' shade.



The last of the Cremesheen Glasses is Deep Kiss. It is a dark berry colour to it that I find to be quite unique. As the Cremesheen formula is quite sheer, it doesn't appear overly strong on the lips. It imparts more of a just bitten hint of colour. This is probably my favourite of of the three Cremesheen Glasses.



The last in the entire kit is Dressed to Dazzle, which is a Dazzleglass. I love it! IT has a pale milky pinky-purple base with hundreds of little pink and white micro-glitters suspended in it. I think it works great on it's own, but it can be used as a lip topper for many different lipsticks.


I think that for £26, the MAC Irresistibly Charming Lip Gloss Kit was a fantastic investment for my makeup collection. The downfall of buying the kit, is that all but one were limited edition shades. If I run out of any of my favourites I can't just go and repurchase. I have to hope that MAC will reprobate them in a future collection.

Buying a MAC Holiday Collection has both pros and cons, but in the end it is completely up to each individual. I am personally a great lover of MAC limited edition collections, but for others don't see the appeal. All I can say is that I'm supper excited for the Nutcracker Sweet Collection. Not other collection has excited me more.

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
