Eyeliners? Eyeliners everywhere! - written

Now I won't lie to you guys, I'm shocked to be writing this post. You might wonder 'it's just eyeliner, what's so wrong with that?' A couple of months ago...I had only ever used one type, one brand of 'everyday' eyeliner. Since the dawn of time I have only ever used Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner. Last month I kinda went a bit crazy and snapped up a lot of new eyeliner types to try, after all 'how do you know you don't like it if you've never tried it?' In this post I decided to talk about different eyeliner types, favourite product for each, and how I feel about them.

Kohl
I feel that kohl eyeliners are like the 'basic' form and that everyone kind of learns from there. Growing up I found that the majority I tried were hard and sore to try on my skin, making me not want to put them anywhere near my eyes (obviously cheaper products as I was young). That mentality continued as I got older, and I still sort of feel that today.

It's great for smudging along the lash line or all over the lid for a wash of colour, which is fine. I prefer for my liner to be a lot more precise and give a clean line. Maybe I've still not worked it out, or maybe it's just never going to be my thing. I reach the most for bareMinerals Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner in 5pm, which is a bit easier to use than a normal pencil.

Liquid
When I first started having to apply stage makeup, liquid  liner was the type I chose. That is probably why I'm most proficient at at when compared to the other types. Still my most favourite form of eyeliner, hands down! It's precise, clean, and so easy to use. I took me a while to realise that I preferred the liquid liners that include the brush tips to the ones that are pencil like.

I use this liner to create big dramatic flicks to my eyes due to the precision. I always use my Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner as it ticks all my boxes.

Felt Tip
This is one of the newer eyeliners that I have just tried. I rate it as being a somewhat better form of a kohl liner. It is just a bit easier to use, but it also gives neater lines.

I use this eyeliner if I am going for a very natural look due to the thin line it creates. I picked up the Barry M Blink which seems it be working well.

Gel
The newest eyeliner that I have tried of all of the others. I like the consistency; the precision and how easy it is to apply. I fell like this allows for the best application and most amount of 'freedom'. My only problem thus far is that some brands of gel liner melt around my eyes. I have watery eyes, especially when I have my contacts in, which causes a muddiness to form under the outer corner.

I'm stuck between MAC Little Black Bow (which is limited editon) and Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner as my favourites. Both are easy to apply, but Little Black Bow has the longest lasting time.

Out of all types, which do you prefer and why?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
