January's Top Bargain Beauty Buy!

I am totally in love with this and could not wait to try it out. I saw it sitting oh-so innocently in Tk Maxx; upon which I had to dive on it before anyone else saw it BareMinerals, and anything similar to that standard, is hard to come by in my local store, so this was amazing. I was worried that it was going to contain totally weird and obscure shades but no!

The palette is the BareMinerals Ready 4.0 Palette in A-List. It is a palette full of cool toned pinks and purples. There was also another BareMinerals palette in the store but it was full of blue shades. I thought that the pinks and purples would be better for my green eyes than blue.

I love howthe packaging is very sleek and professional looking. It's also very compact making this absolutely perfet for taking on the go; it's sooo tiny! The only downfall to the packaging is the material that it's made form. I know anyone else who owns either a blsuh or a similar palette will agree with me when I say that it's not mark resistant. Tounch this with even a hint of foundation on and it will quickly look grubby! I make sure to give my hands a quick dust off before I touch it.

Look how cute the protective sheet is! The shades are: Icebreaker, Fashionably Late; Swanky, and Black Tie Optional.

You can see how the palette has more of a cooled down tone to it. Both Icebreaker and Fashionably Late have a frosty shimmer to them, while Swanky has both a frosty shimmer and tiny little gold mirco glitter in it. Black Tie Optional is the only matte effect in the palette, which is great. I think every palette should have a matte balck just because of how versitle it is.

The palette cone with a little dual ended sponge foot applicatior, which is missing form the photo because I neglected to notice that I had dropped it on the floor. The mirror in thepalette is fairly standerd; large enought for applying eye makeup but not for doing your full face.

IceBreaker
A white shade with a forsty shimmer to it. I use this all over the eye, with just a hint on the browbone (and I do mean just a hint!).

Fashionably Late
A cool toned bubblegum pink that also has a frosty shimmer effect. I brush this shade lightly through my crease.

Swanky
A dark purple that has both a frosty shimmer effect as well as gold micro glitter in it. I use this to define my outer corner, and just begin to bring it up into my crease.

Black Tie Optional
A black with a matte fisnish. I put a tiny dab into the outer corners before smudging out. I also use this wet as a black eyeliner.

(Just a little look I put together with this palette and a very light coating of MAC Saint Germain on the lips)

This cost me £9.99 out of my local Tk Maxx and, get this, it is currently available on the House of Fraser website for £29.99. YES; you read that right. £29.99!!! I cannot believe I just saved £20 on it.

Did I scoop a bargain, or what?!

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
